At least this pool saved the life of this deer, when the mountain lion chasing it was shocked by the splash! The water-adverse feline climbs out immediately, leaving the deer to paddle to safety on the other side. Reason number 687 to own a swimming pool.

Welcome to 2019, friends! And for many of us, welcome back to work…
We've brought you underwater babies before, but in this month's newsletter we bring you festive underwater babies. These little ones are all set for Easter and share their Spring spirit in an irresistibly adorable underwater photo shoot. The photos were taken at Water Babies, the world's leading baby swim school who seek to provide safety and confidence to the very youngest of swimmers.
We're reasonably certain that this is not a recommended practice for your pool, but it does look like a lot of fun, so enjoy the spectacle and learn some science. (PS, if you do try this at home, please wear safety gloves or something. Safety first, backyard scientists!)
Happy Monday! Have a smile...
If you have a little time and a lot of hula hoops, you might consider this DIY method of solar heating your pool. A project, a conversation piece, and warmer water...what more could you ask for? (Note: this method is only recommended for those with kids willing to dive in and retrieve all of these things when it's time to swim!)
The count down is on and Christmas is almost here! Five days left to pick up those last-minute items that will put a smile on every face around the tree. To help you out, we've rounded up a few suggestions for stuffing the stockings of your very favorite swimmers!
Give them aerodynamic style...
Treat their senses...
Dry 'em off every once in awhile...
Have a little fun...
Acrophobia is the fear of heights and aquaphobia is the fear of water or swimming. After swimming in the pool at Hotel Hubertus in South Tyrol, Italy, you may need a new term for the fear of swimming at great height! This pool towers 40' above the ground, supported by what appear to be enormous logs, and featuring a convenient window at the bottom so that you can fully realize this new, yet-unnamed phobia.
As we wrap up our series on the benefits of swimming your way to a better education, please enjoy this delightful video of a pup getting it's own lessons in the pool.
May you have as much fun this week as this adorable pup!
Proving that anyone can have a swimming pool with just a bit of ingenuity and effort (and thirst!), a group of Dutch men built their very own swimming hole using zip ties and beer crates. The project required 138 crates or 3,312 bottles!
"...dream of lazy days under the sun while surrounded by all the traffic and business going on at Rockefeller Plaza." Dreaming is all you may do though, as this pool is vertical. And empty.
Rockefeller Center's new art installation is titled "Van Gogh's" ear in a reference to the shape of the pool. And of course, "The title Van Gogh’s Ear plays on the mythological versus the ordinary. We thought it was a perfect name for a swimming pool of this shape. It opens up the possibility for a different perception of the form itself. And like the myth of Van Gogh cutting off his ear in despair, the dislocated pool will hopefully make people wonder ‘why?’, and pursue their own reasoning behind this inexplicable scenario.”
Gotta love art!
So if the groundhog sees his shadow, it's six more weeks of winter. But what if he falls in the pool?
Is there a space in your living room for this?
A concept design with some obvious practical concerns, we still think it's a better option than the Scrubbing Brush Sofa.
In many parts of the world, January 1st is not just the first day of a new year. It is also "Polar Bear Swim Day" - a day when thousands of brave souls don their swim wear and plunge into the coldest water they can find. Reasons for this strange century-old tradition range from health benefits to the bracing, energizing effect, but most do it for the good, old-fashioned fun of it!
January 1st in Orlando boasted a high of 85 degrees - hardly the sort of weather a polar bear might enjoy. But today's near-freezing temp of 62 degrees may be the best we can hope for! Will you take the plunge?
In Florida, we have gators. In India they have cows. In Africa, it's elephants and giraffes. And now we have Australia checking in with their kangaroos! There's just something about our sparkling backyard pools that calls out to the wild critters...no matter where in the world we are! Next time, Mr. Roo, may we recommend a river?
May you be as happy as a pig in a pool!
